Written By ChiroConcepts of McKinney on March 26, 2021

Spinal DecompressionFor those suffering from symptoms ranging from numbness, tingling, neck or back pain due to a herniated disc, ChiroConcepts McKinney may be able to help. Surgery isn’t your only option. Non-surgical spinal decompression is a safe, effective way to relieve pressure and allow your disc to retract back into its normal position and shape.

The Research On Non-Surgical Spinal Decompression

Results published in a journal article in Orthopedic Technology Review reported immediate relief from symptoms and pain, and patients were still pain-free after a 90-day follow up. Additionally, 92% of patients displayed physical improvements, 89% of them still improved after the same 90-day follow up.

Another article in Journal of Neurological Research reported a high success rate for non-surgical spinal decompression, ranging from 73% for a herniated disc to 72% for multiple herniated discs.

A study at the Rio Grande Hospital, Department of Neurosurgery evaluated the efficacy of 20 spinal decompression sessions compared to 10 for low back pain patients. The 20-session group blew the 10-session group out of the water with a 76.5% complete remission rate compared to 42.9%. Many were able to return to an active lifestyle.

The 20-session group also had a 19.6% partial remission rate while the 10-session group had a 24.1% rate. Researchers are still working to determine the maximum optimal number of sessions for complete, lasting remission.
